About the OHV-Task Force

The primary goal of the OHV Task Force is to reduce illegal off-roading in the Coachella Valley by means of education, warnings and citations; to protect the environment and address air quality issues.  Off-Highway Vehicle recreation contributes to Coachella Valley PM-10 issues and devastation to our endangered species.  This Task Force is one instrument that will help conserve and protect one of California’s cultural and natural resources, while at the same time foster respect for private property rights.  Task Force members use a variety of all-terrain vehicles & aircraft to patrol targeted areas, and contact & educate violators.

The CVAG Task Force consists of members from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s, Indio and Palm Desert Stations, Cathedral City Police Department, Desert Hot Springs Police Department, Palm Springs Police Department, and Bureau of Land Management. The CVAG Task Force is committed to ensuring public safety and increased quality of life in the Coachella Valley.

A County Off-Highway Vehicle Commission created by the Board of Supervisors supports the local effort and is working on potential sites for legal riding parks in Western and Eastern Riverside County.
